ahhhhh finally spring is here!!!!! i'm so excited!!!!!!!

i live in canada, northwestern ontario, and spring is long in coming. i think it was last week or the week before that we were still getting 20 cm dumps of snow. And we're probably still going to get a little snow here and there, but finally most of it is gone now and we're having regular days where the temps are above freezing, which is a relief. I'm going to have to start taking more walks in the woods and see if I can find anything growing. we still won't get leaves on the trees or anything until at least mid-may, and we'll still have frost till then too. our growing season is soooo short and it's really tiring lmao. i love green and growing things, and the lack of them for such a long stretch of the year is wearying on me. i'm looking forward to days going on hikes, hanging at the lake, campfires, all that good summer stuff. it's a short season so we make the most of it here.

and what else has been going on? well, i've made a kind of plan on how i'm finally going to start finishing my many unfinished website pages lmao. i'm going to focus on my visible mending page first, which i mainly just have to take pictures for. i'm not really a picture taker, i'm always too busy doing things that I forget to doccument them hahaha. but! I'm going to make a real effort to get good pics of all the things I need pics of for that page. I'm also thinking of crocheting a qr code to display at my mending pop-ups i have irl, but i can only do that once the page is finished! so i'm gonna do that first lol

I've also been re-listening to welcome to night vale again, and GOD i love this podcast. The first three years of this show are, i think, some of the best storytelling out there. the later seasons are great too, but those first few have a special place in my heart. i started listening back in 2013, right after they blew up on tumblr after the episode 'first date' dropped. i still have my faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home campaign tshirt somewhere, though it definitley doesn't fit me any more lmao. i should cut off the graphic and sew it onto a bigger tshirt so i can wear it agian. i should do that with my dark owl records tshirt too. Michelle Nguyen is honestly probably my favourite character. if you don't know wtnv this is probably all very silly sounding. that's okay lmao, but i do reccomend you listen to the first two seasons at LEAST. if you really enjoy it keep going, but if you only listen to some night vale I'd say do the first two seasons for sure. or, if you only want to listen to one, do the second season. it's incredible.

oh i almost forgot!!! me and my wife adopted a new cat!! he is 6 years old and grey, just like our other cat lmao. he was a stray, and his teeth were all fucked up when the humane society got him. They had to remove most of his teeth, and now he's got a funny gummy little mouth. we've named him Spruce, and he's so incredibly sweet. He loves to be pet and get treats and play. he was only just recently neutered, unlike our first cat who was neutered at one month old. i don't know what difference that makes other than the fact that he's got bigger balls lmao.

we've been trying to slowly introduce him to our other cat and our dog, which is slow going but is going better than it could be. I mean, we only adopted him on Saturday, and it's Wednesday now and today Spruce and Finn, our other cat, were able to hang out in the same room together mostly peacefully. There was some growling from Finn, but he's not a violent man so it's just a warning, which is normal. the thing i'm most worried about is not finn, but our dog autumn. Autumn is incredibly sweet and harmless, but she weighs about 60 pounds and is pretty loud and loves to bark, which must be intimidating when you're just a 10 pound cat. And every time Autumn sees Spruce she freaks out in excitement, barking and jumping and shit. it's only been four days, i have to remind myself. They'll get used to each other, and they probably won't ever be like, besties, but they'll be able to chill in the same space. Autumn has to get used to him mostly, so that she doesn't freak out whenever she sees him. that would be great (¬⤙¬ )

he looks so grumpy in every picture i have of him, his face just makes him look angry or grumpy constantly. but he's such a sweetie, and he loves me and my wife already. i'm so happy he's part of our little family, and i can't wait for him to be comfortable enough that he can chill and sit on my lap and hang out while i game or crochet or whatever that finn does. i'm gonna have to make a page about our pets, because i love them so much and they desreve it. but, i think, i'll finish the pages i have half done first. then i'll make more. one thing at a time, i say, despite the unmedicated adhd making the bugs in my brain go absolutley nuts.
